Two donate paths for organizations

Most volunteer groups should use cash into claimed accounts. Stock gifts (including headlines like SpaceX shares) follow a separate IRS temporary rule — not a button on this site.

⚠️ Educational only

This is not legal, tax, or fiduciary advice. Organizations should talk to their own counsel and tax advisors before launching a program. We do not accept or custody donations.

Path A · Most groups

Cash / volunteer gifts

  • · Class of at least 5,000 children
  • · Equal amounts; Treasury must accept

  • · Does not use the family $5,000 cash cap
Stock donation rules

Playbook for Path A (cash)

  1. Point parents to For Families to claim accounts.
  2. Ask each family for an official contribute link, or have them create a gift page with that link first.
  3. Run the drive (birthday month, Christmas, back-to-school) with one clear CTA — no random payment apps claiming to be “Trump Accounts.”
  4. Remind givers of the $$5,000 combined annual cash cap.

Playbook for Path B (stock / QGC)

  1. Confirm 501(c)(3) (or government/tribe) status and board authority.
  2. Read temporary regs T.D. 10056 / Treas. Reg. §1.530A-7T — Federal Register.
  3. Define a class ≥ 5,000 with equal per-child amounts.
  4. Request Treasury acceptance; do not promise deposits until accepted.
  5. Tell families stock pledges are not refuse-able under current temporary rules and may have hold periods — see stock donations.

ℹ️ Musk / SpaceX headlines

Large private-company pledges reported in the press still need an eligible donor path and Treasury acceptance. A local church cannot “match Musk” by transferring brokerage shares into one child’s account. See Musk SpaceX shares.

FAQ

Can a church or nonprofit give cash to children’s Trump Accounts?
Yes, as ordinary contributions into open accounts — the same $5,000 annual cash cap that families and employers share still applies unless the gift qualifies as a qualified general contribution outside that cap. Confirm structure with counsel; this page is educational only.
Can a 501(c)(3) donate company stock like the Musk SpaceX pledge?
Possibly, under temporary regulations T.D. 10056 (Treas. Reg. §1.530A-7T). Eligible donors include governments, Indian tribal governments, and 501(c)(3)s. Treasury must accept the gift. The approved class needs at least 5,000 children, each getting an equal amount. Individuals and most local clubs cannot use this path for a single child.
What should a volunteer coordinator do first?
Confirm every child has a claimed Trump Account. No account, no gift. Then decide: peer cash gifts via family gift pages / official contribute QRs, or a formal qualified stock / QGC path with counsel and Treasury.
