Every eligible child under 18 with a valid Social Security number now has a Trump Account. The White House reported nearly 70 million accounts (as of October 7, 2026) — most still need a parent or guardian to claim in the official app.

Mega pledges vs. volunteer cash

Elon Musk said he would give one spacex share to every kid in america sometime next year, delivered through trump accounts (The Verge, 2026-10-19). That is a reported pledge, not shares already in accounts. Volunteer birthday gifts are ordinary cash under the $5,000 cap. Stock gifts follow different IRS temporary rules.

Do I need to open a Trump Account before gifts arrive?
Yes. No account, no gift — including the federal pilot deposit, Dell $250, employer matches, family cash, stranger gifts, and reported stock pledges such as Musk SpaceX shares. Claim the account in the official Trump Accounts app first.
Can volunteers or strangers donate to my child’s account?
Yes. Anyone can contribute cash toward the $5,000 annual cap (family + employer §128 share that cap). Share a gift page or the official contribute QR. Stock gifts are a separate path for eligible donors and large classes — not something a volunteer can send from a brokerage app.
How do I invite birthday guests or relatives to contribute?
